Five weeks

These have been the longest five weeks of my life ... but Max is a beauty, I must say, and he's getting more alert every day (i.e., more fun).

Congratulations! I know EXACTLY what you mean about the longest five weeks of your life. It's SOSOSOSO exhausting having a newborn. You don't know how hard it is until you are living it.

It gets better every week and at 6 months it's just wonderful. There are ups and downs, but remember, everything is a phase. That's my mantra. Right now my Baby J has mini tantrums when I gently steer her away from the cat food. Everything is just a phase...

When my daughter was born (14 years old now, and a joy) a friend told me the truest thing I've ever heard: "You're in for some of the longest days and shortest years of your life."

Oh my gosh, he is just soooo adorable. As a mother of four (all grown now) I remember those first few weeks for each baby, but the first was by FAR the most difficult. A huge change in your entire existence. Being "on" 24/7, and thinking you'll never again get enough rest/sleep. But you will. And you won't believe how fast the time will go eventually. Just not now. :) HA. :) My best to you all.

Such a handsome boy. How is big brother Mookie dealing with the little guy? Our (female) cat "adopted" my youngest son- slept at the foot of his crib, moved with him to the big boy bed, and licked/nibbled his ears to wake him up (with the unfortunate side effect that his ears always had a faint whiff of tuna!). Take lots of photos since they change so fast at that age.

You have a definite cutie! I don't have any kids yet, but I'll admit the idea of a baby lump that just pees, eats, poops and yawns (as one of my friends says) is a bit demoralizing. It is good to know that stage is brief!

I've been following your blog for ages, I left work to have my baby (10 months now) and now am writing my own blog too!

The first six weeks are the toughest; after that it just gets better and better!

Oh, he is just beautiful! It's true - time will fly from now on, even though it seems long at the moment. Cherish every day with your precious bundle.

He is such a beauty! Oh my. Yes, the first 6 weeks are particularly hard. It's a combo of some of the most intense positive emotions of wonder and love and the flats of mind-numbing exhaustion. You have to work to remember the good stuff and let the other stuff fade...

He's getting so big! Love the boppy pillow. Is that pattern the actually pillow or a cover? I love the apple prints! Where's it from?? Our boppy could use a new cover.
